Find and Edit Recommended Budget
I previously mentioned that AdWords will create a recommended daily budget for your campaign. In order to find this recommended budget, or edit it for that matter, you just need to go back to the Settings tab for your campaign. There you will find the current daily budget and what Google thinks you need to have as your daily budget. Keep in mind that you do not have to change your daily budget. Just because Google wants you to spend a small fortune on advertising does not mean you should. Or at least not yet, make sure that you can get the numbers to work for your needs first and then go about increasing the funds.
If you are running the advertising campaign for a variety of clients you will find the budget amounts for them under your MCC dashboard. The only way that you will be able to adjust the budget amount is if your client accounts are using the Manager Defined Spend (MDS) option. This is a safeguard for both you and your client when dealing with advertising costs.
A few final notes to keep in mind with your budget are as follows. First of all, keep your total account budget in mind as you are changing your daily budget for individual campaigns. In other words, if you have 5 different campaigns that are each running $1 per day in ads, that is a total of $5 per day, not $1 per day. Secondly, you can adjust the campaign budgets at anytime, but there is a limit of 10 changes to a campaign’s budget per 24 hour period. Lastly, keep in mind the other tools that you have to get the budget working for you. If you find that you are burning up your funds with no positive conversions and you keep thinking that you just need to pump more money in there, then think again. If may be time to go back to that keyword set and tweak it for more optimization, or re-write your ad copy and test it to find out what works best.
