| New Photosmart printer from HP can print without being attached to a PC |
After touchscreen mobile phones, it is time for touchscreen printers. On June 22, 2009, famous printer maker Hewlett-Packard unveiled its latest HP Photosmart Premium with Touchsmart Web. This new printer will be able to print movie tickets, maps, and various documents directly from the Internet without being attached to a PC. The new printer supports both broadband and Wi-Fi connection. It also has Bluetooth facility which enables the printer to directly print from digital cameras and mobile phones.
The HP Photosmart Premium with Touchsmart Web has a 4.33 inch touch screen and comes with a software that allows the printer to access the internet. HP’s partnership with USA Today, Google, Fandango, Coupons.com, Dream Works Animation, Nickelodeon, Web Sudoku and Weathernews will allow users to access these sites and print their contents. Users can also upload their photos to Snapfish, the photo-sharing website of HP. You can also send faxes, make photocopies and scan documents with the printer.
Like the Apple iPhone App Store, HP also launched its online app store named HP Apps Studio. Through the built in programming interface of the new printer, users will be able to download software developed by third party developers. The new printer will be available in the stores this fall and it will be priced at $399.
