There are several other tools available for you to manage your AdWords bids. These tools are best used once you have run your basic campaign for a long enough time that you are beginning to see some quality leads and statistics that you feel can be tweaked.

The first tools is ad scheduling. Ad scheduling gives you control over the time periods when you can either boost or lower your bid amount. For example if you have been running a campaign for 3 months and you see that every Friday night you have been maxing out your bid amount, then you may want to schedule an increase in bid funding for Friday nights. This way you would not miss out on the quality leads from a cap on you bid funds when people are searching for you the most.

The second tool is demographic bidding. If your product is something like women’s clothing during pregnancy, then you may want to target women aged 20 to 50 for your ad campaign. Well, that is where demographic bidding comes in handy. To do this, there is simply a percentage boost that can be applied to your campaign when the content is applicable to your demographic parameters. You can set this up by adding the percentage bid system found in the demographic bidding page of your campaign.

The final tool for managing your AdWords bids is the position preference. Position preference can be used strategically by nearly all campaigns. This is where you simply request the position that your ad will be shown against the other available ads. To begin with, you may consider setting this up in order to show your ads in a position where your available funds last longer and therefore gain more quality traffic information. For example, if you have $200 for a campaign budget per month, you may choose to show it in the 4th position where you can have the ad shown twice as much for half the price. Good stuff right? Well, yes, but then once you have the ad performing well and achieving the results you are after, it is time to move it up to a higher position and gain more traffic in the process, which can be done (you guessed it) by the position preference.
